What Is A Gulfstream G350 Jet?

Introduction to Gulfstream G350 Jet

The Gulfstream G350 is a large-cabin business jet from Gulfstream Aerospace, a General Dynamics company based in Savannah, Georgia. It belongs to the Gulfstream IV family, which Gulfstream built from 1985 to 2018.

The G350 and the G450 are the same aircraft type. Both carry the FAA designation GIV-X, approved on August 12, 2004. The difference is fuel. The G350 has a reduced fuel capacity, which gives it a shorter range than the G450. For many trips that shorter range is enough, and you still get the full large-cabin fuselage.

Features of Gulfstream G350 Jet

Exterior Features

The G350 uses the GIV-X fuselage, which is 12 inches longer than the original Gulfstream IV, with the main entry door moved aft. The Tay 611-8C engines have FADEC (full-authority digital engine control), redesigned thrust reversers, nacelles and pylons.

Cockpit Features

The GIV-X borrowed many systems from the Gulfstream V-SP. These include the Honeywell advanced flight deck display suite, the electrical power generation, the cabin temperature control and pressurization, and the nose landing gear. It also has an improved auxiliary power unit, redesigned main landing gear wheels and brakes, and hard-over protection on the flight controls.

The G350 has conventional flight controls. It is not a fly-by-wire aircraft.

Maximum Range

The G350's range is 3,800 nautical miles. The G450, with its larger fuel capacity, reaches 4,350 nautical miles. If your trips are mostly domestic or within one region, the G350's range covers them on the same airframe.

Range on the day depends on passengers, bags, weather and winds. For a long nonstop flight, ask the operator to confirm the route with your actual load.

Speed and Altitude Capabilities

The G350 cruises between Mach 0.80 and Mach 0.85, which is 459 to 488 knots. Its maximum speed is Mach 0.88, and its service ceiling is 45,000 feet.

Interior Design and Amenities

Cabin Configuration and Seating

The Gulfstream IV family's published specification lists seating for up to 19 passengers. Most business interiors seat fewer people, with club seats, a divan, a galley and a lavatory. Because interiors differ between aircraft, ask the operator for the floor plan of the jet you are booking.

Comfort Features

The large-cabin fuselage is the main reason to choose a G350 over a midsize jet. It gives your group room to move around, work, eat and rest on a longer flight.

Safety Features and Design

The G350 is flown by a two-pilot crew. The GIV-X design added hard-over protection to the flight control system and took its cockpit displays from the Gulfstream V-SP. Safety on any charter also depends on the operator, its crews and its maintenance. BLADE books flights with licensed operators only.
